About Event

KUCHING, 24 August 2023 – The ambitious plan by the Sarawak Indian Women Association (SIWA) to host an International Indian Women’s Conference in Kuching received a significant boost today following a courtesy visit to Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof.

SIWA’s representatives briefed Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof, who is also the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, on the planned global event which aims to empower and connect Indian women worldwide.

In a strong show of support for the initiative, Dato Sri Fadillah Yusuf approved a special allocation of RM100,000. This funding is specifically earmarked for essential groundwork activities, including crucial working visits to Kuala Lumpur to hold preparatory meetings with relevant federal agencies and the embassies of the countries targeted for invitation.

The Deputy Prime Minister commended SIWA’s vision, noting that the conference would significantly elevate Sarawak’s profile as a destination for international dialogue and cultural exchange. The approved funds will allow SIWA to immediately commence the preliminary organizational stages to turn their vision of an international conference into a reality.
