KUCHING, 18 July 2023 – The Sarawak Indian Women Association (SIWA) paid a courtesy visit to their Patron, YB Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, today to present a proposal for an International Indian Women’s Conference to be held in Kuching.

The SIWA delegation, led by its president, met with YB Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, the Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, to brief her on the association’s aspiration to host a global-level conference. The proposed event aims to bring together Indian women from around the world to discuss key issues, share experiences, and network.

“This conference would be a fantastic platform to showcase the talents and contributions of Indian women, as well as to put Sarawak on the map as a hub for international dialogue,” a representative of SIWA stated.

YB Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah acknowledged the initiative and commended SIWA for its proactive approach in fostering global ties and empowering women. The association will now work to further develop the proposal and secure the necessary support for the ambitious event.
